Ashley and I are back from 2 weeks in South Africa, refreshed and full of the joys of Spring!
This photo is one of the highlights of our trip – spending 20 minutes that close to a fully grown male lion was quite an amazing experience!
We’ve now got 2000 photos to wade through, and will be boring friends and family for the next 6 months until our marriage when we’ll start all over again with the wedding photos!
Between now and then there’s much going on including, starting tomorrow, SES London 2009 which I will be attending at full throttle!
I don’t know about you, but given the choice of fine wine, gargantuan steaks and seafood all served under blue skies in 85 degree heat and an SEM conference in a cold and grey corner of North London, I know which one I’d choose!

Thanks for sharing this photo of such an amazing animal with us, Mel! I think you will agree after being so close to a male lion in the wild, on an open game viewing vehicle, there is no dispute about who the King of the Jungle is out here in Africa!
