Seattle Event: Tech Trends & Tips Mid-Summer Luncheon with Barokas PR

image

One promise I made to myself when we moved to Seattle, was to get stuck right into the tech/social/PR scene with aplomb.

I failed miserably at the last Social Media Club event because the bouncer wouldn’t let me in. I had my UK driver’s licence, but not my passport – required by Washington State Law apparently! ;-(

So next on my list is this lunch with my new-found local PR hero **Howie Barokas** who’s assembled a glittering line up of tech experts who’ll be imparting their considerable knowledge in a couple of weeks here in the rainy city.

Cannes Lions 2011 Video Highlights

This year was my 3rd Cannes Lions Festival, and we had a cracking line up and loads to do social media-wise.

On the Tuesday morning I got a call from Ashley saying she was having contractions, so the next day I made the mad dash back to Seattle on 3 planes, only just making each flight.

She was OK, and we’re still waiting for the baby, but I was really proud of the guys on the ground in the south of France who re-grouped and proved I was surplus to requirements.

This is the highlights video which features the best of our participation at this year’s event!

Au revoir!

Social Media Revolution Video 3

In true real-time fashion the guys at Socialnomics have created the 3rd instalment  of their Social Media Revolution video.

I’ll not call out any of the stats to force you to watch all 4 mins and 19 seconds, but suffice to say the facts and figures are quite astounding especially ones about divorce, trust, marketing, kids, gamers, baby names…..and porn!

Predictions for the next version?

Peter Vesterbacka & Angry Birds on Branding a Phenomenon

Another video from Cannes. Met Peter through Amanda Groty and Poppy at Hill & Knowlton.

Loved their approach to building their brand, and especially the suprise at just how successful they’d been.

Adore the “simple people….” mantra!

Kudo Tsunoda Interview on Xbox 360 and Kinect at Cannes Lions 2011

Got to spend 8 minutes with the creative director for Xbox 360 – Kudo Tsunoda – at Cannes Lions 2011 this week.

Quite a force in person – I’d sneaked into watch his session rehearsal – and quite the demoer, Kudo has a presence and articulation quite unlike anyone I’ve ever met.

Check out us talking about Kinect, why it’s sold so well, and listen to the advice he gives to creatives on how to get the most from the Xbox platform.
