New York Travel Planning Tips from Bing

Some folks have told me the overload ads from the Bing team didn’t make them want to use the service because it didn’t give them a tangible reason to switch.

All part of the grand plan, it’s ads like the above that address those who want to see Bing delve a little deeper into the power behind the experience.

Win £10K with IE8 & the Life Academy plus some Net Set Research

Life Academy

The Internet Explorer 8 team have set up the Life Academy site to inspire 18-25 year olds to come up with an idea for the chance to win £10K to make that idea come alive.

“Internet Explorer is constantly improving to help you socialise with your friends, work smarter and make life easier. Now we’d like to give you the opportunity to bring your own ideas to life and help shape the future.

Internet Explorer 8 Life Academy is a competition which celebrates the Internet, its wealth of possibilities and lets you explore your potential.

From the environment to the arts, simply tell us your idea for making a difference in the world. If you impress our judges you could turn your idea into reality. And, just like Internet Explorer 8, we’ll help you on your way to achieve the best possible results.”

The team did some in-depth research into the “Net Set” generation and found:

  • 84 per cent of those surveyed think that the internet makes life better
  • 33 per cent of the ‘Net Set’ say their greatest worries today are money related
  • 68 per cent of all young Brits already have or would participate in online campaigns or petitions
  • Four out of five people surveyed see the internet as the place to go for inspiration and knowledge

Find out more on the research here and don’t forget to spread the word about the competition by retweeting this post or pointing young people to the Life Academy site.

I blogged about Multi-Screen Advertising at Digital Hollywood last week.

This is a nice video showing what a campaign scenario might look like.

Just back from holiday having missed this, so just taken a peek.

So pleased Danny got to finally quiz Steve B and, as someone who’s been at Microsoft for 5 years talking about search and adCenter, so pleased to see our CEO up there so eloquently explaining the problems we have with search, and what Bing is setting out to achieve in solving those conundrums.

MSN Video Player Interview

MSN Video Player

Last week, to coincide with the launch of the rather swanky MSN Video Player in the UK, I interviewed Ashley Highfield who heads up our Consumer & Online division here in the UK.

Just seen the new Robin Hood movie trailer in HD!

This is really a very cool development for the MSN UK, built on the back of Ashley’s experience at the BBC with the iPlayer, now you can watch full time TV shows with no sign up or login and all in the beauty of Silverlight.

Not going to get much work done today now are you?
